Sure Confidence
If you are following my 5 Psalms / 1 Proverb a day trick, we are on Psalms 91-95 and Proverbs 19.
Come, let us bow down in worship,
let us kneel before the Lord our Maker;
for he is our God
and we are the people of his pasture,
the flock under his care.
Elder Blythe Meigs reflections in this time seem a great fit for our morning readings. Blythe writes:
As I consider the current events and what they mean, I keep being drawn to the thought – what does God want from me? How can I glorify Him? One of my work clients doesn’t like to talk about problems or issues or risk – the word they prefer is “opportunity”. That sums up my current frame of mind – what opportunities is God opening for me to show His love to my local community and to the world community?
I appreciate the fact that my church and BSF groups have jumped on board so quickly –we aren’t going to panic (Chicken Little) or bury our heads in the sand (lalala – I can’t hear you…) – we are going to adapt and see how we can love our community and others in this time of uncertainty. Because, we aren’t uncertain – we have a sure confidence that overcomes the uncertainty in the stock market, the economy and the healthcare system – because our certainty lies with our Father in Heaven.
As we reconsider the ways we are all tied together as a community, I am excited to see how this will draw us closer to each other and to God. Aren't we all re-evaluating our mortality and reconsidering if our desire for independence supersedes our concern for “neighbor”? I look forward to seeing what God has in store for me and our West Side community to love others and to glorify our Father. Celebrating the Resurrection of our Savior on Easter Sunday this year will take on a whole new meaning for me!
Encouraged by the consistent expressions of faith in this church family!
