World Relief

There are many ways to become involved at World Relief:
- A Welcome Kit Drive is always a good way to get people involved that is fairly low-risk for people. Newly arrived refugee families must rebuild their entire household, so to receive a kit with linens, flatware, cleaning supplies, pillows, and more is truly a blessing.
- We have many one-time serve opportunities for individuals and for groups, including working in our community garden (which usually offers the opportunity to interact with resettled refugees), helping a family move out of temporary housing into permanent housing, and many more.
- A good opportunity for ongoing volunteering for members of the congregation who want to take that step is to become a Weekly Needs Volunteer. This is an a la carte option where volunteers can see the needs of the week and choose one that fits into their schedule. This can be driving a refugee to an appointment at DSHS, delivering groceries to a newly arrived family, picking up a refugee family from the airport when they first arrive, and many more. Weekly Need Volunteers commit to volunteering twice a month, at their own pace, with WRWW.
- Finally, Hosting Home Support Teams and Good Neighbor Teams are bigger commitments to walk alongside a refugee family for 6 weeks – 6 months helping to welcome them and truly help them to feel rooted in community. I would love to talk further with you about this if you are interested.
