Devotions: Week of August 31
This week’s devotional readings close out our summer readings. We’ve journeyed with Eugene Peterson, Dallas Willard, NT Wright, the Desert Fathers, Brennan Manning, stories from the Bruderhof community, Anne Lamott, Annie Dillard and Henri Nouwen. Since this week ends in the Labor Day weekend, we finish the summer readings with reflections on work and Sabbath collected from various Christian authors but especially Timothy Keller (on work) and Abraham Heschel (on Sabbath).
Continuing the daily Bible readings that we began last week, we’ll read through a few more of the New Testament letters as letters. The readings end with the letters to the 7 churches in John’s Apocalypse (the book of Revelation).
