Cold Weather Clothing Drive

Warm clothing and outdoor supplies wanted. See Urgent Request below.
 
West Side will have a cold weather clothing drive - to collect items for The Welcome Table February 18-25. Please bring your clean clothing items or outdoor supplies to West Side and leave at our Welcome Center (Sunday mornings or Tu-Fri, 9am-1pm). They will be delivered to The Welcome Table for distribution.

The Welcome Table is a program sponsored by Westside Interfaith Network (WIN) which we (West Side)  has put together 'Holiday Bags' for the past several Christmases for the homeless clients they feed on a weekly basis at The Welcome Table. West Side's youth  group  has also served at The Welcome Table at one of their Saturday meals.
WIN is an interfaith group of churches and people in the West Seattle-White Center area who are working together to address the needs of our neighbors through service, compassion, and action. 

We are bereft. The line is growing longer each week outside of the bus that serves as our storage unit, and from which we hand out supplies on Saturdays to those experiencing homelessness. More and more are coming to The Welcome Table, and we are all out of warm coats and outerwear for men. This is the most asked-for item by our guests. In past years we received a large supply from the Zumiez Foundation but this year Zumiez suspended their program. It breaks our heart to say "no, I'm sorry we are all out" to so many.

Please look in your closets - is there a coat that you haven't worn for a few years? Could you give it up for someone in need?

Warm clothing needed too: long underwear, vests, hoodies, sweatshirts, jeans, khakis, beanies, gloves, new socks. Work boots, sturdy winter shoes, warm foot wear for men and women.

Living outdoors supplies: Tents, tarps, cooking gear, sleeping pads, etc.
